When you look out on your city –
smell of concrete in your nose Hounds are feasting on each other – rats are racing down below And the Fat Cats of the system – are pulling tighter on your chain You might hear the Angels weeping – through the rain And you might hear the dancing flowers ring And the eagle's wing above the clouds And you might hear the forest whispering And the rivers sing your name aloud And when your pining heart has found the door And you're done breaking down the walls You'll come running When the mountain calls When you're feeling small and helpless – just a minnow in the sea And your ego is reciting – all that you can never be And your soul is weighing heavy – with all the hurt you carry round You can better listen to your heart – says “lay it down” Cos you can then begin to realize That all the lies were never true And you can learn to see how fine a light Is shining right there inside you And when you see that you were born of love Were never meant to be so small You'll come running When the mountain calls Copyright Mike Monaghan
